What are the habits of happy people?
Ever seen those people who just look happy all the time? They've got a happy presence to themselves and their smile can light up a room. They are just happy. Maybe it’s time we all try to be just that too.
Here are some habits of happy people (scientifically backed)
1. Practise gratitude. Be grateful for the small and big things. Practising gratitude helps us focus less on the negatives that may pop up in our day and we have a higher satisfaction for small wins. It also teaches kinder behaviour.
2. Drink enough water. The oldest trick in the book, but the most important. Keeping hydrated allows for longer concentration, less frustration, improves energy levels and brain functions. All these factors keep us in a happier mindset because we feel better.
3. Listen to music. Listening to our favourite music helps with stresses and anxiety as we are focused on what we hear. Music is also important as it helps elevate our mood to help us become a happier version of ourselves.
4. Wake earlier. The University of Toronto found that the early risers ‘feel more awake, alert, happier and motivated to tackle the day overnight owls’ (Dry July Foundation, 2020). Reinventing your sleep schedule to allow yourself to wake earlier can help you achieve more in the day.
5. Exercise the way you want too. Exercising the way you want to improve your overall well being as you’re not being forced to do anything you feel uncomfortable with. While pushing yourself is still important, being mindful of your body and its limits is also important to feeling good.
